ABOUT THESE PHOTOS:

There are 74 of them in this vBook — shot with all manner of cameras, lenses, film and sensors, and processed with all sorts of chemicals and software. They were sequenced in Final Cut Pro X and set to a custom score, which was recorded into Ableton Live using all 10 of my fingers and at least that many software-based synthesizers. Anyone intrigued enough to learn the meaning of the vBook’s final frame should mosey on over to another ULTRAsomething article — the one with the coincidentally apropos title of Reject Intent.

Don: Thanks for recognizing that there might be some semblance of a story involved. I’ll have (much) more to say about that in a couple weeks. But for now, I’m going to let the video simply stand without any exposition to help prop it up. And with regards to your curious new desire, I assure you that your ongoing encouragement has more than earned you the “honour” of joining me on the streets the next time you visit Vancouver — I don’t know if you’ll pick up any useful photo tips, but you’ll definitely learn the locations of all the best coffee shops and, not coincidentally, the most easily accessible public restrooms…

Whoa, that was intense, especially when compared to the photos you’ve shown in your articles. And you did the music as well! That’s some talent. Well done, mate.

Very, very nice! Love the photos, but when they are sequenced like that to the music, the wow factor is multiplied by a factor of 100. Many thanks for this great site.

Can’t watch this enough times (and trust me, I have now watched this many many times). I love the intrigue, and the evidently deliberate pairing of photos. I love the way the soundtrack nudges the story along, and the visual pulsating – white flashing light and white elements reinforcing the rhythm. Must have taken you 100 hours to construct this beauty 🙂 Thank you!

What a great combination of photography and music and perfect arrangement in a short video. Makes me want to go out and shoot and capture the beauty and the grit in everydays life.

    Signed, a silent follower.

Wow, that’s really fantastic. I love it! That’s all I have to say — I’m just a consumer and a guy who takes photos of his kids so the rest is kist what I like:I like the music, the music and photo coordination, and especially the photographs. The lighting and composition and subject and tone and contrast and timing of the photos is wonderful. I think the photos would looks great in a big book where I could look at then at a slower pace. Or a show! I live locally so let me know if you put on a show. Thanks for the art. It’s very much enjoyed.
